Surgery on Cameron a success; Beltran to return next week

August 13, 2005

Surgery on Mike Cameron was a success to repair a broken nose and two fractured cheekbones after he collided with outfielder Carlos Beltran. He will stay at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif., for at least a couple more days to recover from Friday night’s surgery. His wife JaBrecka flew out from the family’s home in Georgia. The Mets placed Cameron on the 15 day DL.

Carlos Beltran stayed at the team’s hotel while the rest of the team played a game at Dodger Stadium. He fractured a cheekbone but did not require surgery. He also had a sore shoulder.
