Mets win first of four in the desert

August 23, 2005

The New York Mets headed to Arizona and took game one of four from the D-Backs. Glavine pitched great, then was taken out in the ninth inning. Glavine pitched where he pitches best, in the desert. Reyes hit his second homer in three games, and the Mets were back to normal. They are still in last place in the NL East, suprsingly, with a 64-60 record, while the Padres are in first place in the NL West with a 61-63 record, two games below .500!! Anyway, the Mets won 4-1, also having Victor Diaz hit a solo shot.
