Giants NAIL ‘Skins 36-0
Final: Giants 36, Redskins 0 Giants move to 5-2 on the year, and keep 1st place in the NFC East

This game was important for the Giants to win for a few reasons. 1, to win it for Wellington Mara who just died this week, 2, keep first place, and 3, to beat their divisional rivals. Tiki Barber had a GREAT game. He had 206 rushing yards, including a 50+ yard run to start the game. The NFL’s 31st ranked defense held the Redskins to ZERO points on the day. Joe Gibbs has never been shut out in his career in the regular season, and the one shutout he got was in January of 1987 against the Giants in the NFC Championship Game. The Giants never let the Redskins cross the 50 yard line for the whole entire first half. If I had a choice who to give the game ball to, it would be tied with Tiki Barber and Jay Feely. Jay feely made all but one of his 6 field goals attempted, making 5 field goals on the day. Tiki Barber passed 200 yards rushing, thanks to good blocking by the rest of the offense to lead the way.
Schedule coming up! :
week 9: 49ers Away
week 10- Vikings Home
week 11- Eagles Home
Wellington Mara: Wellington Mara has been with the Giants since he was ballboy when he was 9 years old. He co-owned the Giants at age 14.
G-men over Broncos; Giants move to 4-2 on the season
Final: Giants-24, Broncos-23
The Giants had another close game at the end, similar to last week against Dallas. Amani Toomer had many catches, including a touchdown to win the game. It was similar to ‘98 when he helped beat the Broncos when they were 13-0. The Giants won by one point after being down by 2 scores. Both Plaxico Burress and Amani Tommer caught one touchdown pass, and Jay Feely hit a 52-yard field goal, and has not missed a field go all season.
NFC East outlook:
Every team in the NFC East won except for the Cowboys. Check out the standings at www.NFL.com.
Upcoming Schedule:
Redskins @ Giants
Giants @ 49ers
Vikings @ Giants
5-1 Broncos head to the meadowlands!!
The 5-1 Broncos head to Giants stadium to play the Giants in week 7. The injuries on the Giants side aren’t too serious, except for WR Plaxico Burress having back spasms , and CB Will Peterson out, but he is no good so I am actually happy that he is not playing right now. There is a long list of probables for the Broncos, nothing that I need to get into right now. The Giants will be reunited with Ron Dayne, former RB. The game will be televised on CBS. For more information and live updates during the game, go to www.nfl.com, www.giants.com, and www.espn.com. Those are just a few sites to get live updates on the NFL scores.
Cowboys beat giants in OT
Final: Cowboys 16, Giants 13, OT
Overtime had to decide the Giants-Cowboys NFC East game. Scoring bounced back and forth, but the Cowboys won it. Rookie goal line back Brandon Jacobs fumbled in the 4th quarter and the Cowboys recovered, almost sealing the win for the Cowboys. NOT SO FAST. The Cowboys couldn’t come up with anything on the following drive, punting it to the Giants. With only a little bit of time left, Eli manning and the Giants were down 13-6. When the Cowboys punted to the Giants, the Giants started their drive. Eli threw the ball to Plaxico Burress, coming closer to the endzone, and then throwing it to Jeremy Shockey for the tying touchdown in the end of the 4th quarter. Soon after… maybe luck really won it all for the Cowboys. They won the coin toss in overtime, started their drive, and passed the ball to Witten to put themselves in field goal range. They kicked the field goal, and won the game, beating the Giants to put themselves in first place in the NFC East with a 4-2 record, ahead of the rest of the NFC East, all with records of 3-2.
Shockey re-signs for 5 years
The Giants and Jeremy Shockey agreed on a 5-year deal that will keep him through the 2011 season. His contract was due to run out after the 2006 season.
He will get:
$900,000 in 2005, $950,000 in 2006, $850,000 in 2007, $2.25 million in 2008, 3.25 million in 2009, 3.825 million in 2010, and 4.508 million in 2011. He also has many bonuses in the deal, including guaranteed for injury. Altogether, the bonuses add up to be 13.9 million dollars.
“It’s great to have this behind me and to know that I’m going to be with the Giants and with this group of guys for a long time,” said Shockey. “It’s a team that traded up in the (2002) draft to get me, a team that’s been good to me, and it’s where I wanted to be. This is a big relief and it means I can just concentrate on playing football. The great thing is we did it really quietly. No one knew about it, no one knew (the contract talks) were going on, so it never became a distraction. I’m grateful to everyone involved.”
