Giants lose to ‘Skins, if they beat Oakland, they win the NFC East title

December 30, 2005 · Filed Under Giants, This Week's Giants Game

Final: Redskins 35, Giants 20

The Giants lost the game that they could have clinched the NFC East. They lost to the Redskins on the road. Santana Moss and Clinton Portis burned the Giants and went on to win their 4th straight game. There were some bad calls made by the referees that put the game away in the 4th quarter.

The Giants need to beat Oakland to win the division, and that’s that. They cant just lose because the Redskins are going to beat the Eagles, and if the Redskins win and the Giants lose, the Redskins win the NFC East. Kerry Collins will look to get his revenge against the Giants for booting him out of New York to make room for Eli Manning. The Giants offered him a spot as a mentor/backup to Eli Manning, but he declined, and Kurt Warner came, and soon failed. Kerry Collins moved on to Oakland, where Rich Gannon was the starter at the time, but soon broke his neck and sat out for the rest of the season. Now, Rich Gannon is retired and Kerry Collins has the job in Oakland, who is 3-11 right now. Oakland, to me, is a good team with a hard schedule. If they had an easier schedule, I think they would be close to a wild card spot right now. The Giants, 10-5, can clinch the division, which would give them a home game in the playoffs if they win.
Look for Kerry Collins to throw passes to Moss and Porter as the Giants defense gives up too many big passes, but also look for Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan to sack Kerry Collins multiple times.
