Mets hold best record in Major Leagues

April 14, 2006

At 7-1, and 4 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves, who have won the NL East 14 straight years, the Mets hold the best record in the Major Leagues. The team is soaring with David Wright, Carlos Delgado, Cliff Floyd, Carlos Beltran, all except for Delgado hitting a home run yesterday. Carlos Delgado does have 3 homers on the season. Reyes, who led in triples last year, already has 2 triples, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, and one home run. David Wright has not struck out once this season after 32 at bats. Carlos Beltran has 3 home runs on the season.

Pedro Martinez is 2-0, Glavine is 1-0, Bannister is 1-0, Steve Trachsel, Billy Wagner, and Victor Zambrano all are 1-0 this season also.

Today the Mets head home to play 3 with the Brewers as Tom Glavine takes the mound at 7:10 PM against Capuano, who is 1-1.

After the Brewers, the Mets have a big 3 game series against Atlanta, then head out West to play against San Diego Padres, and visit former Mets Mike Piazza and Mike Cameron.
