PreGame- Phillies @ Mets
7:10 PM- Shea Stadium - Phillies @ Mets…
Preview: The Mets (5-3) and Phillies (2-6) play the rubber game of their three-game, home-opening series today at Shea Stadium, a day before the Mets welcome in the Washington Nationals, and former Mets 3rd Base coach, Manny Acta for a three-game series at Shea Stadium.
Lineup:
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Paul Lo Duca C
3. Carlos Beltran CF
4. Carlos Delgado 1B
5. David Wright 3B
6. Moises Alou LF
7. Shawn Green RF
8. Damion Easley 2B - Appears as if Willie is giving Valentin the day off
9. Tom Glavine P
Pitching Matchup: Tom Glavine (1-1, 2.38 ERA) vs. Jamie Moyer (1-0, 2.70 ERA).
Battle of the Grandpas: Glavine, 41, is coming off a rocky start during a cold day in Atlanta last week, as he tries to turn things around in his first home start of the year and pick up win number 292. Jamie Moyer, 44, is coming off of a nice start against the Marlins, where he allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings.
Who to Watch: David Wright has been powerless this year, as third-year manager Willie Randolph announced that he is a bit concerned, power-wise for Wright.
Think it’s that whole Home Run Derby? I don’t know… but it’s something…
On the bright side, Wright has a twenty-game hitting streak, in which he extended last night in the ninth inning…
…Carlos Delgado needs to get his power going, as he has yet to hit a home run, but sooner or later I know he’ll get into a hot streak. Delgado is one of the most inconsistent Mets hitters, as I have seen him hit four homers in three days, and I’ve seen him hit 1-for-38.
Coming Up:
Mets welcome in Manny Acta and the Washington Nationals (1-8) tomorrow for a three game set, starting at 7:10 PM. Mike Pelfrey most likely will get his first start of the season, as he won the number five spot in the rotation following a strong Spring Training. He will face off against righty John Patterson, who is 0-2 with a 9.35 ERA
