PreGame: Mets @ Phils
Mets (7-4) vs. Phillies (3-8)
Come on, a new opponent already! Jeez, we gotta play the Phils again?!
Well, I guess the Mets are going to have to deal with it. Tonight’s game will begin at 7:05 PM at Citizens Bank Park. Tonight’s pitching matchup looks as follows:
LHP Tom Glavine (2-1, 3.12 ERA) is coming off a win on Thursday against, guess who, the Phillies, where he gave up two home runs to Jimmy Rollins. He’s facing off against RHP Freddy Garcia (0-0). The right-hander had a delayed start to his regular season because of soreness in his right biceps. In his only career start against the Mets, Garcia allowed one run on six hits in a complete-game victory, striking out seven.
This is game two of a two game series, but the first game was postponed to the annoying northeast storm. After the game tonight, the Mets will head to Florida to take on the Marlins for another two-game series. Finally, the Mets will come back to Shea and celebrate Jackie Robinson Day for a weekend three-game set against the evil Atlanta Braves.
The lineup should be same as always, since, well, no one needs rest because of the STUPID nor’easter. Here it is:
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Paul Lo Duca C
3. Carlos Beltran CF
4. Carlos Delgado 1B
5. David Wright 3B
6. Moises Alou LF
7. Shawn Green RF
8. Jose Valentin 2B
9. Tom Glavine P
Just another day at the office for Tommy, starting his 638th career game, while attempting for win number 293. His career record is 292-192 … Give us a quality start… and lay down one of your classic sacrifice bunts, Tom!
Let’s Go Mets!
