Injuries, Injuries, Injuries!

April 30, 2007

The New York Mets had two healthy players on their team a few days ago. Those two healthy players are no longer healthy, Orlando Hernandez and Jose Valentin.

Jose Valentin left the game two days ago against the Nationals after knee discomfort early in the game. He finished out that inning and left, eventually replaced by Damion Easley. After MRI results, the New York Mets decided they would put him on the 15-day DL, bringing a need for a AAA call-up from New Orleans.  After thinking it over of whether to bring up Anderson Hernandez, who has a great glove and a horrible bat in the Majors, or to bring up Ruben Gotay, who was with the Mets in Spring Training, the Mets decided they would call up Gotay.

The Mets have announced that Orlando Hernandez has been placed on the 15-day DL with bursitis in his shoulder. He will be replaced by Chan Ho Park, who nearly made the Mets rotation in Spring Training..UGH! THE 2007 VERSION OF LIMA! Let’s just rename it Chan time! Park is pitching at Shea tonight against the Marlins, starting at 7:10 pm.

Had Duque been hurt earlier yesterday, the Mets would have called up Jorge Sosa, also with the Mets in Spring Training, as he is rolling in AAA, but he made a start yesterday, preventing him to start tonight.
