PostGame: Mets/Rockies
Final: Mets 6. Rockies 1.
Short postgame tonight, just some notes..
-most importantly, Carlos Delgado hit his first HR of the year, a line-drive 2-run SHOT to RF that scored Beltran, who had just hit a perfect, routine double to right field.
-Reyes had 2 steals… in the first two innings! I love Lo Duca’s plate discipline when Reyes is on base. Never swings at first pitch, hits it the other way, gets ‘im over, gets ‘im in.
-Valentin crushed a 3-run mammoth HR… he just continues to star at second base ever since he took over last season!
-Alou keeps hittin’ the ball.. he went 3-for-3 tonight with a walk.
-Maine could never be better, he was GREAT tonight. 7.2 IP, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 K’s. He did allow 7 hits, though. That’s fine.
Tomorrow, the Mets play game two starting at 7:10 PM. El Duque (2-1) will take the mound for the Mets against Aaron Cooke (0-1)
PreGame: Mets/Rockies
The Mets continue their homestand, this time against the Colorado Rockies, where John Maine (2-0, 1.93 ERA) will take on RHP Taylor Buchholz (1-0, 5.68 ERA) in his first start of the season, as he has made four relief apperances for the Rockies.
Maine was great in his last start, giving up two runs late, but bringing a no-hitter into the seventh inning right after a close call that could have gone either way to strike out the batter, but the umpire called a ball… the hitter, Cabrera of the Marlins, hit a single on the next pitch.
Delgado is in a serious home run slump. He hits doubles, like he should, but he doesn’t hit home runs, like he should. I don’t know what’s up, he has no HR’s this season and its April 23rd.
David Wright, also slumping, ended his career-high and franchise record-setting hit streak against the Braves on Friday Night.
In other news, Carlos Beltran, who has been hotter than any player in baseball lately
(other than A-Rod), led the National League with 27 total bases, and has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for April 16-22, 2007. His 27 total bases included four doubles, two triples, and two home runs. His 13 hits and nine RBI tied him for second most in the National League. Beltran posted a .448 batting average, a slugging percentage of .931 and a .484 on-base percentage. Beltran is currently tied with Carlos Lee of the Houston Astros for the NL lead with 19 RBI. This is his fifth overall Player of the Week award and third in the National League, with his last one coming July 24-31, 2006.
Also included in the picture on the right, is SS Jose Reyes. Reyes has been very hot also, as he most recently slaughtered the Braves, as he hit a homer on Saturday, and hit a bases-loaded triple (he had two on one night against ATL earlier this season at Turner Field, one coming from the Right side, one coming from the Left side) on Sunday to give the Mets a three-run lead, which the bullpen blew.
Tonight’s lineup should look the same olddd way.
1. Reyes SS
2. Lo Duca C
3. Beltran CF
4. Delgado 1B
5. Wright 3B
6. Alou LF
7. Green RF
8. Valentin 2B
9. Maine P
PostGame: Mets/Braves
The Mets lost to the Braves by a score of 9-6. The Mets were down 3-1, but came back and were leading 6-3, as Jose Reyes grabbed 3 RBI triple. The Mets bullpen started fine in the next inning, grabbing two outs quickly. Soon, though, when Willie Randolph took out Ambiorix Burgos for Scott Schoeneweis, The Braves ended up scoring three runs, tying the score at six. The Mets then used Aaron Heilman, which did nothing, as the Braves scored three more runs.
Mets play the Rockies at Shea Stadium for a 3-game series starting tomorrow night at 7:10 PM.
PostGame: Mets/Braves
Final: Braves 7, Mets 3.
Well, the Mets offense, who will need to carry them throughout the season, didn’t do what they needed to do. Shawn Green hit a HR, but that was in the ninth.
-David Wright’s hitting streak came to an end.
-Larry “Chipper” Jones hit a HR in the first inning.
-Tim Hudson went 8 innings, allowing 5 hits, 0 runs, while striking out five.
- Pelfrey didn’t have a quality start, as he gave up a HR to Larry “Chipper” Jones early.
Tomorrow the Mets play the Braves in Game 2 of this three game series at Shea Stadium at 1:10 PM. The pitching matchup will be Oliver Perez vs. Chuck James.
PostGame: Mets vs. Marlins
Final: Mets 11, Marlins 3. The Mets won all three games of their road trip, sweeping the Phillies in one game, and the Marlins in two. The Mets scored a combined 20 runs in the two-game series! El Duque pitched great, with 10 K’s in 7 innings. The Mets scored seven runs by the third inning.
Reyes hit a triple, and well, it will always be one if it goes past the outfielders…
Beltran had a great day hitting, most importantly a double and a HR.
Lo Duca had the day off to rest his finger, and Castro did great filling in, as he hit a HR.
Shawn Green had two RBI doubles…
Even El Duque had an RBI single…
Valentin hit a HR for the Mets…
Tomorrow: The Mets host the Braves in the first of a three game series at Shea Stadium starting at 7:10 PM. The Mets are sending Mike Pelfrey to face Tim Hudson in New York. The Mets are leaving Miami at about 12 am, and are schedule to be back in NY somewhere around 2 am.
LETS GO METS!
