Series Preview: Mets/Cubs
This week I won’t be doing any pre-games, so I’ll do a series preview instead. The Mets are coming off a series win at home against the First Place and best record holder, the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mets took the rubber game of the series yesterday in a 9-1 crushing to hand Chris Capuano his first loss of the season.
The Mets host the Cubs in a four-game series at Shea Stadium beginning at 7:10 tonight.
Game 1: Cubs @ Mets, 7:10 PM – Cliff Floyd’s Shea comeback.
Tom Glavine (4-1, 2.98) vs. Jason Marquis (5-1, 1.70). Marquis is on fire. He is coming off a three-hit complete game shutout against the Pirates last week when the Cubs won 1-0.
All everyday starters (except Alou) should be back in the lineup tonight, with Endy Chavez or Carlos Gomez (most likely Chavez) getting the start in Left Field.
Game 2: John Maine (5-0, 1.79) vs. Carlos Zambrano (3-3, 5.83). John Maine is on fire and I hope he keeps it up at home this series. If he goes 6-0, he’ll be one game better than what Pedro Martinez was early last season, 5-0.
Game 3: Jorge Sosa (2-0, 2.77) vs. Rich Hill (4-2, 2.51). Jorge Sosa has done a great job filling in for Orlando Hernandez with his last two starts following Chan Ho Park’s horrible start.
Game 4: TBA vs. Angel Guzman (0-0, 3.57) has no wins thru 12 starts in his career.
lets go mets as always
