For second straight season, Mets cautious with Pedro
Omar Minaya showed no indication that he would be rushing pitcher Pedro Martinez back to the Shea Stadium mound. In fact, he told the NY Post that the organization now expects Martinez to be out until AT LEAST the middle of May or possibly June.
“We’re definitely going to be more conservative with him,” Minaya told the NY Post. “With hamstrings, you just never know. We’ve got to be careful.”
Well, there is no surprise at all here because the Mets followed the same path last season, except it was a bit more extreme. At Pedro’s age, I agree with what the Mets are doing here.
