No surprise that Giants release Tyree
Former Giants’ WR David Tyree, who was released this past week by the Giants, was known for his special team abilities and for catching a key pass in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLII that propelled the Giants to victory over the undefeated New England Patriots.
But that’s about all he was known for.
Although many people may not realize that Tyree was actually a wide receiver, the Giants did — and it was evident when the team determined that the rest of the receivers on the team were better than him going into this season. The release was no surprise, and it seemed like something that was waiting to happen for quite some time as Tyree treaded water on the lowest possible portion of the depth chart throughout his career in a Giants uniform.
