Carlos Delgado hurt his hip on an akward swing during yesterday’s 11-7 win over Cincinnati. Delgado was on fire recently, hitting .389 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in the first nine games of the Mets’ road trip that ended today. The injury doesn’t help his hot streak, as he often goes into a slump right after coming back from an injury.
No worries for the Mets, as they have a 5 game lead to work with in the last month of the season. Green should spend the most time in Delgado’s place throughout the next ten days, while Jeff Conine could also see some time at first base.
The Mets lost today, but again, there’s no worries because Philadelphia also lost.
The Mets head home to face the Houston Astros in the first three games of a 9-game homestand that includes series against the Braves and Phillies.
