THE NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS HAVE KNOCKED OFF THE #1 SEED DALLAS COWBOYS AND WITH ONE MORE WIN, THEY WILL BE IN THE SUPER BOWL!!!
The Giants had all sorts of momentum from both the New England game and the Tampa Bay game in their favor going into this game and they used it to their advantage. The just-woken-from-their-nap Cowboys were met head on with the Steaming-Hot G-Men and failed to even win one playoff game in their big season.
The Cowboys, whose pro bowlers outnumbered the Giants 12-1, were losing 21-17 late in the game and had stopped the Giants offense, meaning with 1 time-out left, Dallas had one more shot. The Cowboys started around midfield and got all the way down to the red zone due to penalties. The Giants, whose CB’s position were already thinned due to injury, were dropping like flies all the way down to the practice squad players! Dropped Cowboy Passes, strong pressure on Romo, and mis-communications all led to the Dallas loss.
Sam Madison will likely return to the NFC Championship game, at least I’m guessing, and Aaron Ross will hopefully be able to repair his damaged arm. The Giants defense is doing a fantastic job, and you have to give credit to the defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo. He has come from being a little-known linebackers coach to a big-time defensive coach that is already being considered for head coaching jobs (Atlanta).
Eli Manning and Amani Toomer had a great game, with Toomer catching two TD’s from Manning and Eli not even throwing a pick. He has thrown 0 INT’s during the playoffs. The Giants have been staying away from Burress because the defenses all expect Burress to be the man that gets the ball his way. The Giants used him to throw the ball elsewhere, like to Steve Smith and Amani Toomer.
Like what my brother Tim said today, great quarterbacks happen in the playoffs, not the regular season. Tony Romo has been a solid regular season quarterback, but he hasn’t gotten anything done in the playoffs. Back-to-back years he has made the final play for the Cowboys, and each season it was a turnover.
The Giants won their 9th straight game on the road, something that is unprecedented. One big thing that will help the Giants if they win next week is that they will get a bye week before the Super Bowl.
Anything can happen next week, and it will all come down to whether the Giants can stop two things: Ryan Grant, and the Green Bay slants that the WR’s do. Besides, if the Giants can beat the number 1 seed, what makes you think they can’t beat the number 2 seed? If they do, the New York Football Giants will be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.
