Derrick Ward, one of the main reasons the Giants were able to slip into the playoffs this past year, re-signed with the team today, signing a one-year contract.
Without Ward’s success, you could argue that Ahmad Bradshaw would have done just as well filling in for Brandon Jacobs when he was injured, but either way, Ward was amazing for the team before he went down on December 2 with a broken leg.
Ward was a free-agent, but not many reasons came up for him to leave Big Blue.
“I had to keep my options open, but my main goal was to stay here with the Giants,” Ward said. “The Giants gave me my start. It feels good to come back to hopefully have a good year this year and be a part of the Super Bowl champion Giants. Hopefully, I’ll be able to finish my career here.”
