Nelson Figueroa gets first Major League win in six years

nelson-figueroa.jpgNelson Figueroa (1-0) got his first win in awhile, as the Mets won their third straight game. The Brewers were in town and never had a hit until the fifth inning when a line drive was JUST fair down the left field line.

Joe Smith pitched the seventh inning, while Aaron Heilman bounced back nicely Heilman pitched a perfect eighth inning, striking out two batters. Billy Wagner finally had a save opportunity and easily shut down the Brewers in the ninth to assure the Mets of the win.

Carlos Delgado continued his nice season so far at the plate, getting a hit and an RBI. Raul Casanova made his season debut. He popped up in his first at-bat, but had a nice hit in his second at-bat that resulted in an RBI. Angel Pagan had another RBI, giving him a total of ten on the season already. TEN!

A foggy night at Shea made conditions tough to play in, but somehow everyone got through it. Jose Reyes left the game with a tight hamstring. Following the game, Reyes said he most likely won’t be playing tomorrow
