Matt Tracy is a journalist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Media from Ithaca College. He began MattTracy.com in the summer of 2005 as the first exclusive Mets and Giants blog on the web. This blog has since changed its focus towards covering a wide variety of topics and issues in sports while still covering the Mets and Giants.
Matt has contributed to Baseball Youth magazine and has interviewed several baseball stars including Pete Rose, David Wright, Moises Alou, Endy Chavez, John Maine, and Keith Hernandez. Matt has worked as a sports reporter for The Ithaca Journal as well as The Daily Star, two daily newspapers in central New York. He also contributed to Baseball the Magazine and to GiantsFootballBlog.com., one of the few blogs formerly affiliated with SportsNet New York blog network. Matt served as the Women’s Golf beat writer for The Ithacan, Ithaca College’s award-winning newspaper, and wrote for Buzzsaw magazine, an Ithaca College publication. In the summer of 2012, he worked for FOX Sports/MSNBC publication Rays Digest as the beat writer covering the Tampa Bay Rays’ Minor League affiliate in Princeton, West Virginia.
Matt spent an entire semester living in Cape Town, South Africa, where he studied at The University of Cape Town and tutored students in English and Math. He also wrote an article for the University of Cape Town student paper, Varsity, about his experience as an American football fan attending a foreign rugby match. As a capstone to the trip, he entered a township and wrote an in-depth piece for MattTracy.com on the existence of baseball in South Africa.
